Cuckstool Cottage offers a perfect retreat in lovely countryside, just on the edge of the bustling village of Denby Dale. Local amenities are within walking distance and there's so much to do in this area from adults and children alike.

Denby Dale is known as the Pie Village due to its historical traditions of making monster pies to celebrate national events. Its range of specialist, independently owned shops, gives it its unique character. From butcher's to book store, rustic furniture shops, craft shops, health foods, shoes, jams, baker's... you name it, it's here! The village also has a great Indian Restaurant (and there's also Italian and Mediterranean within 5 minutes drive) along with good Pub Grub in the local hostelries.

This is also a rambler's paradise, with so many way-marked walks in the area. Locally too you will find golf, swimming and water sports. We are happy to accept dogs (extra charge of £15 per stay)

For things to do, the list is endless. Here's a few suggestions:-

Cannon Hall Country Park and Open Farm is a great family day out, there's a museum here too, plus an adventure playground

Take an underground tour at the National Coal Mining Museum- it's FREE!

Holmfirth of 'Summer Wine' fame is about 10 minutes away,

Kirklees Light Railway offers steam train rides on the narrow guage railway,

Dearne Lea tea rooms has the best home-made ice cream ever, and you can also see the cows being milked,

Eureka children's museum is an interactive science museum for little ones,

Yorkshire Sculpture Park for a fascinating day out.

Pugney's Country Park has an array of watersports for your enjoyment

There are two local 9 hole golf courses

Why not coincide your visit with one of the local agricultural shows?

The National Media Museum in Bradford is a great day out, and it's FREE!

The historic city of York is just 50 minutes away by car....
