Chez Ming Gite

The gite is situated alongside a stream at the edge of the medieval village of Catus, 15 Kms from Cahors. It has a private terrace with access to a large secluded garden bordering the stream. A quiet and tranquil place for a relaxing holiday.

The Lac Vert leisure lake is just 1km away from the gite by a footpath alongside a stream, or by road. The lake has swimming (life-guard in high season), boating (no engines!!), fishing, children's' playground, tennis (we can lend you rackets and balls) and other sporting facilities. The lake shore is an ideal spot for picnics, has a restaurant and café and public washing and toilet facilities. There are many short walks in the low-lying hills around.

In and around Catus there is much to see and do. The local tourist office in Catus is very helpful for information. There is a selection of brochures in the gite and your British/French hosts Eddie and Michele will be happy to help you with more information should you require it. We invite you to come and experience life at the edge of a typical medieval village in south-west France. Meet the local villagers during your morning walk to the local boulangerie for your bread and croissants, at the bar and at the weekly market on Tuesday mornings in the main Boulevard.

Other services in the village include a small supermarket, butchery, greengrocer, restaurant/bar, cafe/bar, post office, newsagent, florist, hairdresser, and an antique shop. If you run short of cash (who doesn't when on holiday!!) there is a cash-dispensing machine (Credit Agricole Bank) that accepts most credit/debit cards. The village has two doctors and a pharmacy.

Catus is ideally located for visiting many of the tourist sites that you will find in tourist guides to the Lot, Dordogne, Lot and Garonne, Tarn, Tarn and Garonne and Aveyron. Most are within an hours drive or less from Catus. The Catus tourist office and those in other villages and towns are very useful for local tourist information.
