Glen Auchie Country Holiday Cottage

Glen Auchie is a traditional stone county cottage dating back to 1850. It has outstanding views to the sea, Mull of Galloway and Isle of Man on a clear day. It has a well-matured garden to enjoy with many beautiful plants and herbs.

Before renovation it was the last thatched cottage in the South Rhins, Scotland's most southerly point. It is situated on the road to the Mull of Galloway, two miles from the village of Drummore.

It is ideally placed for many outdoor pursuits including walking, cycling, bird watching, wildlife, fishing, sea fishing, horse riding, bowling and rocky/sandy beaches. Sightseeing trips by boat either side of the Mull to Luce Bay & Port Logan. Logan Botanic Gardens, Logan House, Ardwell House and many more all within short distance.

Glen Auchie has recently been refurbished to a high standard for the 2007/08 season and is available all year. Ideal for all ages also for those just wanting to get away from it all, to relax in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

The area has excellent eating places in and around Drummore and Port Logan. There is also a very well stocked village shop and post office catering for your every need. Visit Portlogan where the TV series '2000 Acres of Sky' was filmed.

Visit the beautiful Logan Botanic Gardens and many more or feed the fish at Logan Fish Pond. Why not visit Portpatick with it's pretty harbour and quaint shops or take a sailing trip or planned bus tour to Belfast from Stranraer for the day. Spend the day at the Mull of Galloway and climb the lighthouse, visit the Bird Centre and enjoy the splendid views, meals and mouth-watering home baking at the Gaillie Craig Coffee House/Restaurant, Gaillie Craig is becoming a very popular and beautiful place for your entire wedding and reception.
