Seaside Croft

A lovely seashore cottage on Loch Ewe with stunning views over the sea to the hills of the Great Wilderness.

Nearby are Gairloch, Poolewe, Inverewe Gardens, and lots of sandy beaches and fantastic scenery to explore.

There are riverside, woodland, and forest walks, seasoned hill walkers can climb An Teallach, Slioch, the mountains of Torridon, or visit the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve on the side of Loch Maree where there is a mountain trail and shorter nature walks. The local area is peaceful and unspoiled but still has plenty of things to do.

There are boat trips and wildlife cruises from Gairloch Pier, or you can go fishing or sailing. There is a golf course at Gairloch next to a sandy beach and some lovely wooded walks. There is pony trekking at Flowerdale and a swimming pool at Poolewe. There are craft shops, galleries, and a great variety of places to eat if you don't want to cook.

Further afield is Ullapool, about 50 miles north, passing Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Leckmelm Gardens. South are Loch Carron and the Attadale Gardens, the Applecross Peninsula, and it is only about 80 miles to The Isle of Skye.

Our cottage is a great base for a holiday in Wester Ross. It is comfortable and well equipped, with a large kitchen/dining room, cosy lounge with peat burning stove, TV, hi- fi, videos, books and games, 1 double bedroom (electric blanket) and 2 twin rooms sleeping 6 people. The heating is electric which is included in the price. Relax in the garden which has sun loungers, seats and picnic table, watch the birds, fly a kite, play football, launch your kayak from the gate or your boat from Inverasdales jetty.

The croft is 5 acres, we planted a woodland a couple of years ago and anxiously watch it grow, there is a polytunnel and fruit and vegetable plot and a grassy field down to the sea, so lots to keep us busy and of course any gardening tips welcome!
