Scotland is such a fantastic place for a holiday with its Lochs and Glens. Dumfries and Galloway is particularly beautiful and benefits from the long coastline with its rocky crags and stunning views.
We are located three miles from the Mull of Galloway, Castlemoor holiday Cottage provides high quality accommodation in an area of spectacular scenic beauty. Having quiet paths, lovely beaches and shores to explore, the area has a very striking and attractive island feel and is ideal for families, walking, fishing, cycling, and sailing.
The RSPB has an interesting reserve at the Mull of Galloway and a visitor centre with lots of local information. The coffee shop (Gallie Craig) has spectacular panoramic views including the imposing lighthouse, the Isle of Man, Ireland, the South Rhins peninsula and Luce Bay. The terrace area on the cliff edge enables the visitor to see more areas of the coastline.
A interesting test for those who believe they have a sense of direction, Can the Lake District really lie 68 miles due east.
The Rhins of Galloway are full of interest with many fascinating historical features, the sub tropical Logan Gardens and pretty villages such as Port Patrick and Port Logan where the TV series 2,000 Acres of Sky was located. Drummore has a small supermarket, the first and last Post Office in Scotland, a hotel, newly refurbished bistro and three Pubs.
A leisure centre with swimming pool, water slide, gym, cinema etc is located 15 miles from the cottage in Stranraer.
