The cottage is based in the wonderful walking area with footpaths to the nearby Coastal Path to the Needles on the western tip of the Island or an attractive walk overlooking the Solent and Hurst Castle to Yarmouth. There is a beautiful walk beside the River Yar towards the attractive coastal port and sailing centre of Yarmouth.
The centre of the small market town of Freshwater is within a 15 minute walk and this offers a good range of shops, public houses and restaurants plus a sports centre with indoor pool and a golf course with panoramic coastal views.
This charming cottage which has been furnished and equipped with great care has all the main living rooms south west facing, with the kitchen, living room and dining room each having a set of French doors, opening out onto the large patio and overlooking the garden at every aspect. This provides a pleasant open feel which is light and sunny.
There are attractive wooden floors with rugs throughout the cottage. Upstairs there are three pretty double bedrooms with luxury 100% wool rugs and a newly equipped modern stylish bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and w.c. On the ground floor there is an attractive fitted kitchen equipped with an electric fan oven, gas hob, extractor, microwave, refrigerator with ice box and washing machine.
A charming breakfast area seating with for six in the kitchen. A delightful open plan sitting room with a leather sofa, arm chair; digital television with DVD/Freeview and an open fire which visitors can relax in front of during colder weather is offered and a spacious dining area for six for more formal meals with a wood burning stove.
There is a downstairs cloakroom with a basin and w.c and also a useful area in the hallway for hanging coats and removing boots. The cottage is centrally heated and has double glazed leaded light windows and doors. All heating, electricity, and bed linen provided without extra charge. Towels would be an additional small charge, if required.
Romany has a charming enclosed sunny garden which is south west facing and provides a lovely warm and protected spot to relax. It has a wonderful large heart shaped wildlife pond as the central feature. Visitors can stroll around the garden and enjoy relaxing on seats in various parts of the garden.
Garden furniture is also provided on the patio so that meals can be enjoyed outside. The cottage is approached via a fairly long drive which is 8 ft wide at its most narrow. Three cars can be parked in the drive. There is a garage where small boats and bicycles can be stored and also a room, with an external entrance which is ideal for storage and airing clothing and also includes a freezer. Regular bus service within 5 minutes walk.
Romany Cottage is a non smoking cottage. Regrettably no babies or children. Adults only 18 years plus. Due to the configuration of the house, it is not suitable for those with wheelchairs or with limited mobility. Access statement available. Romany Cottage is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Friday to Friday.
