Little Shiplake

Little Shiplake sits across the stable yard from the owners main house and is a self contained annex converted from an 18th century cattle barn full of character and charm.

Its one double bedroom has a full size walk in wardrobe, the lounge is airy and spacious with a double sofa bed, dining room table and chairs, TV with freeview box. There is a fully fitted kitchen and a brand new bathroom fitted in January 2013 with a large impressive shower, wc and basin.

The garden is private and separate to that of the main house and includes the use of a bbq and picnic style table. Shiplake itself is set in 15 acres of beautiful Sussex country side and guests are more than welcome to stroll down our fields to our woods at the bottom to take a picnic or just enjoy the wonder of the bluebells in springtime. We are happy to provide a picnic hamper for a small cost, and for children a complimentary ride on our family pony is also included.

From our woods at the bottom you can follow a path to the village church and then join the lane to take you to the village pub and shop. If small children are staying, a ride on the family pony is included in their stay and when possible a box of vegetables from our plot will be given to you on arrival.

The Village of Laughton is a calm and relaxing place perfect for walking holidays on the South Downs, but there are many attractions locally like Glydbourne Opera house which is only 3 miles away, the historic town of Lewes and its castle is 6 miles away and then Eastbourne and Brighton are 10 miles.

For children there are several farm parks locally and other days out, Knock Hatch adventure park, Drusillas Park, Spring barn farm, and Bentley Wildfowl, all of which you can find out about in a folder left in Little Shiplake. The owners live just across the stable yard and are more than happy to help you with any other enquiries you may have, they have lived in Laughton for 5 years and indeed have two young children themselves.

The Village is surrounded by a number of other small and pretty villages, and so makes for a beautiful landscape. All of the neighbouring villages have small and friendly family run pubs and children are always welcome. In the bigger towns of Lewes and Uckfield you will find most normal high street shops, but with some beautiful boutiques as well and a wide choice of restaurants and pubs.
