The Lodge Lake District Holiday Cottage at Brantwood
The Lodge at Brantwood is a Lake District holiday cottage with views over Lake Coniston, uniquely located on the Brantwood Estate. The self catering accommodation sleeps 4-9 people in 5 bedrooms and is a detached property that has recently been refurbished.
This is a superb large holiday house in a lovely Lake District location suitable for small groups and wedding parties and providing a rare opportunity to stay on the Brantwood Estate, the historic former home of John Rusking. The property has central heating and a wood burning stove for which a generous supply of logs is provided. The facilities include bed linen and towels, WiFi internet connection, colour TV with CD and DVD player.
The cottage contains many original artworks that give a unique touch to each room, some of which have been commissioned by local Cumbrian artists and crafts people to celebrate the re-opening of the Lodge.
Guests also have access to the regular exhibitions and historic collections in the Brantwood house during opening hours. The Brantwood shop offers books and prints of local interest and there are regular events and courses taking place, including art courses, gardening courses, practical skills and creative writing courses.
There is much to explore in the house and gardens. Why not visit the Linton room where visitors can play a 21st century version of Ruskin’s slate lithophone, using rocks found across Cumbria.
There are many lovely walks within the Estate, with its unique and beautiful mountainside gardens, set in a 250 acre wood estate with spectacular views.
On site there is also the Jumping Jenny cafe with an elevated terrace and seating area looking out over Coniston Water.
