Tigh An Aullt Cottage
Tigh An Aullt is a homely and welcoming 3-bedroom bungalow tucked beneath the Five Sisters of Kintail in a perfectly peaceful and tranquil location looking across Loch Duich. From its windows you can sit and gaze at the inspiring seasonally changing views all day long. A telescope in the lounge offers you close ups of the wildlife: dolphins, seals, porpoises, otters, eagles harriers, peregrines and red deer. From the cottage is a choice of splendid walks up the mountain or along the loch shore.
The cottage itself is warm and cosy with a huge and hearty sofa, crackling fires, king-sized beds and two bathrooms and a proper Swedish sauna. The kitchen has been newly fitted with a gas hob, electric cooker and other modern conveniences, while the breakfast bar commands yet more gorgeous views across Loch Duich.
It is the highest cottage in the village of Ault na Chruinne nestling tight into the hillside. A spate stream full of large boulders flows down the hillside beside the cottage garden.
If you’re looking for a cottage that provides an atmospheric location for an activity-based holiday, then find Tigh-an-Allt won’t disappoint.
The well furnished cottage is the perfect place for relaxing or discovering the stunning landscape surrounding the cottage. While views from the cottage are absolutely stunning, (you could site and stare at them all day long), there’s plenty to see and do further afield.
A trip to Skye via the Skye Bridge a must as is Eilean Donan Castle – one of Scotland’s most photographed landmarks. There is superb walking – up mountains or along the loch shores with opportunities to enjoy, sailing, boat hire, pony-trekking and fishing nearby. The picturesque villages of Plockton, Torridon and Applecross are within easy reach and there is an award winning restaurant, pub and shop within a short walk.
Whether you come from Fort William on the West side of Scotland or via Inverness on the East side Tigh an Aullt is approached via one of the most awe inspiring glens of Scotland. Cluanie Glen is magnificent with its majestic mountains, its rugged rivers and loch. The colours of the highland landscape at any time of the year are truly beautiful.
