Sandpiper Cottage Amble by the Sea
A spacious stone built terraced cottage in Amble a stone’s throw from the beach. Owned by the same family since 1954, so original features such as fireplaces and brass-handled doors, have been carefully retained.
The house has a light yet warm feel, with a mix of traditional and modern furnishings to a high standard, in warm colours, making comfort the key. As it is also used by the owners the amount of kitchen equipment is unusual in a holiday rental. There are lined Laura Ashley curtains, blinds, plain fitted carpets and lots of table lamps throughout.
The National Cycle Route goes past the property, and follows the path along the Heritage Coast. Amble, while still retaining its fleet of pretty fishing boats, is now very much a holiday destination, there is even a chocolaterie/patisserie at the end of the street, an Italian ice cream and coffee shop at the other end, and the best fish and chips a minute away, near the harbour.
We are in an ideal situation to take advantage of all Northumberland has to offer, with Alnwick 7 miles away, Newcastle 40 minutes drive, the beautiful village of Warkworth a mile away with its coffee shops and arts and crafts shops, all those beautiful beaches and links golf courses.
The house has full central heating and front and rear access. The front door leads into a porch and then into a living room with one sofa and three armchairs. Flat screen TV with freeview, and fireplace with glass coal effect electric fire. The rear living room has two sofas, a much-admired, original Victorian fireplace, 32 inch LCD television with freeview, DVD player, CD/radio, books, DVD’s and game.
The glass topped round dining table and four chairs are by the window. Ladies, you don’t have to watch the football, or go to bed. Mums, you don’t have to watch what the kids watch. You are on holiday after all. The newly fitted kitchen has cream shaker style units, a built under oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and an extending table with four chairs.
The under stairs cupboard holds the microwave, ironing board, shopping basket, trays, high chair , travel cot and everything else you could need. There is masses of white bistro china, large wine glasses, le creuset cookware, baking and serving dishes, food processor, mixer, cake tins, and cookery books.
There is even an apron! The kitchen door leads to a paved terrace with outside tap (for washing dogs and children) and a table and chairs. This is east/south and gets sun for most of the day, the front of the property getting the late afternoon sun.
There are two very large bedrooms, the main rear room has the 5ft frame bed, an original fireplace, double wardrobe and chest, plus another television. The front bedroom, also with fireplace, has twin beds, wardrobe and dressing table with two windows, hairdryer and television.
The third single bedroom is only suitable for a child or family member as the bathroom is accessed through this room, but it is spacious, with single bed, and dressing table. The newly fitted fully tiled bathroom has bath with electric shower, WC and wash hand basin. The large landing and hallway has a full length mirror and hanging space.
