Meadowsweet Farm Cottages
In a pretty valley west of the Quantock Hills Meadowsweet Farm in the hamlet of Newton is a thatched farmhouse. The farm & 4 holiday cottages are set in 30 acres of meadows & woods that visitors are free to wander over. Train spotters can enthuse over the West Somerset Steam Railway & chickens roam the farmyard providing free-range eggs for sale.
The Wagon House (sleeps 3) is a single storey deceptively spacious cottage with beamed sitting/dining room, well-fitted kitchen, bathroom, double bedroom with balcony & single bedroom.
The Dairy (sleeps 3or4) is at the end of the farmhouse & has beams & exposed timbers. There is kitchen/diner & sitting room downstairs, upstairs double bedroom, single or twin bedroom & bathroom.
The Mill (sleeps 4) has many original features & guests will enjoy the sound of running water. The cottage is on 3 half levels with a double & twin bedroom, kitchen/sitting room, dining room & unusual bathroom.
The Barn (sleeps 9) is a very spacious cottage with beams & exposed timbers. There is a lofty sitting room with log burner, kitchen/diner, double bedroom, family bedroom (double & single), 2 twin bedrooms, bathroom & shower room.
The cottages include central heating, light & heat included in rental, Colour TV, microwave, duvets, linen & towels provided, off road parking. Dogs welcome 2 max. per cottage (extra charge).
Within a mile is the pretty small village of Bicknoller with thatched cottages & red stone houses a 15th century church, Inn serving food & village shop.
Bicknoller is 3 miles from Williton (supermarket, banks, chemist, newsagent, post office, greengrocer, butcher) 14 miles north of the county town of Taunton (shopping, theatre, cinema, tenpin bowling, cricket, racecourse) 5 miles from Watchet (old harbour town & beach) & Minehead (shops, beach, golf) & beyond is the most beautiful coast. 5 miles west of Bicknoller are the Brendon Hills & then Exmoor National Park.
West Somerset offers the visitor the peace & tranquility of the Quantock Hills - designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - there are wonderful views & scenery. The coast runs from the fossil beaches at Kilve towards Watchet marina/harbour taking in the alabaster cliffs to Blue Anchor Bay & then onto the town of Minehead. Further along the coast from Minehead are the bays of Bossington, Porlock & Porlock weir.
