Tregoning Manor Cottages
Tregoning Manor is an early 18th Century Cornish Farmhouse on the Lizard Peninsula. It is built on the site of an old Cistercian Monastery, some ruins of which are still visible today.
The property and its two cottages are beautifully set in 10 acres on the outskirts of St.Keverne. There is a stream running through the grounds with a small waterfall, a millpond and an old clapper bridge. We live in the main house, so are on hand to help if you have any problems.
The Lizard Peninsula, a largely undiscovered treasure, is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Lovely beaches, dramatic cliff walks and the romantic Helford River.
Historic houses and gardens, family attractions, galleries and good restaurants are within easy reach.
Both cottages are available throughout the year (including Christmas and the New Year), also for short breaks out of season.
Both our cottages at Tregoning are bright, cheerful and welcoming; pictures, pottery and flowers abound. They are furnished with old pine, stencilled furniture and comfortable chairs, fully carpeted and equipped to a high standard.
Colour T.V. and Video player (DVD in Mole's), CD/radio/cassette players, Microwave, Fridge with small freezer compartment, Cooker and Washer/Drier (Washing Machine in Mole's Cottage), ample matching crockery etc. Linen, Duvets and towels (not beach towels please) are included and also a welcome pack to greet you after your journey.
There is an enclosed ' Mowhay ' across the footpath for guests in both cottages to use. In it is a shed which houses various outdoor games and barbecue etc. for your use. Visitors are welcome to wander across the fields by following the footpaths, or to walk through our recently replanted woodland.
Private off road parking for up to 3 cars is available.
Most dogs are welcome by arrangement, although we do not accept Rottweilers, Dobermans, Alsatians, Pit or Bull Terriers. We do ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times around the house and courtyard at Tregoning and please do not allow them on the furniture or leave them unattended in the cottages.
St.Keverne itself is one of the main villages on the Lizard. It is a friendly community set around a square with an imposing church, a chapel, two pubs, a few shops and a post office.
The area is well known for its outstanding beauty and varied scenery from the magnificent coastline, sandy beaches and famous coves, to Goonhilly Downs and the wooded valleys and creeks of the Helford river.
St.Ives, Penzance, Falmouth and the Cathedral City of Truro are all within easy reach; as are St. Michael's Mount and many other National Trust houses and beautiful gardens (Trebah, Glendurgan, Trelissick etc.).
Cornwall has recently been designated a European Cultural route of Parks, Gardens and Landscape and the gardens down here have some of the most unique plant collections in the world.
The Tate Gallery at St. Ives, Lands End, the open air Minack Theatre perched on the cliffs at Porthcurno, the Eden Project and the recently opened National Maritime Museum all make an enjoyable day out. There are several leisure parks for family outings:- Flambards, The Seal Sanctuary, Poldark Mine and Paradise Park to name but a few ..
