Ataireachd Ard
A lovely bright cosy cottage with sea views from all windows. Watch the sun rise and set from the front garden, enjoy the peace and quiet of the waves lapping against the shore, or the sea birds searching for food as the tide goes out.
The fishing River Brora alongside has otter and seal at its mouth.
Round the corner is the pretty harbour and just opposite the start of beautiful coastal walks past basking seals, a broch and Dunrobin Castle, all the way to Golspie.
The cottage itself has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 7.
The kitchen is bright and modern, facing the sea, with all the usual mod cons available - washer, drier, fridge, microwave etc. There is a small rear porch leading to a fully enclosed garden with a large, new, picnic bench for summer BBQs.
The kitchen leads to a dining room with a double aspect, again looking to the sea.
Downstairs there is also a bathroom with bath and shower and sitting room. Like the dining room this has wooden floors and it also has a new multifuel stove. (This is a family cottage and we like our comfort). Fuel for this is included. Views from all our windows look to the sea. There is also a good electric fire, Smart TV and DVD.
Outside, apart from the enclosed garden to the rear there is a large open garden at the front overlooking the sea and beach. The views here are magic whether it be the river and sea in their various states, the ever changing skies, the seabirds and seals or the golfers teeing off on the other side of the river.
Upstairs there are 3 bright bedrooms with, guess what, sea views. The largest has a kingsiize bed and is en suite. There is also a spare z bed here. The middle room is a double and the end room a triple.
A great attraction is the ever changing beach in front of the cottage - just now sandy, great for sand castles, but every week it is different. Walks from here stretch miles as far as Dunrobin Castle, the waterfall, a broch and Golspie. In fact with careful planning you can even take the train or bus one way.
Shops, restaurants and other services are close by, as is the famous James Braid Brora golf course. In fact there are 9 golf courses within easy reach of the cottage including Dornoch.
There are walks to suit all - short level walks around Brora itself, beautiful woodland walks around Golspie and Loch Fleet or more strenuous moorland walks inland.
The area is also a birdwatcher's paradise.
Brora is only an hour from Inverness, accessible by road or rail. It is within easy reach both of the north coast and Orkney and of the more remote west coast.
It tends to be drier than you might expect, certainly much drier than the west coast and the sunrises and sunsets are just stunning.
Prices for a week range from £450 to £600 including fuel for the stove. Electricity is charged at 14p per unit. All linen is included.
