Balnahard Farmhouse
Come to Balnahard for a holiday with a difference. The scenery & surroundings are spectacular, with much to offer walkers, bird spotters, botanists, archaeologists, sailors, cyclist or people just wanting to stay in a beautiful setting.
Situated at the north end of the Isle of Colonsay, the house is in a secluded position on a secluded island. The whole island is a real find, with only 120 residents, plenty of sheep, cattle & goats, a small shop & an hotel.
Decorated and furnished in a unique and eclectic style, Balnahard house sleeps 10 in four large bedrooms -two doubles, one twin room, and one room for four (bunks & twin beds). It had a family bathroom and a second shower room.
The large sitting room has a woodburning stove, large & comfy sofas, as well as family games, books and magazines. The fully equipped kitchen has a large 6-ring gas cooker, large fridge & separate freezer, plenty of cupboard space and appealing, unusual crockery.
The adjacent dining area has windows on three sides, so the wonderful sea views can be enjoyed, and a dining table large enough to seat 12.
All bedlinen & towels are provided. The sheets and duvet covers are all cotton, and the pillows and duvets themselves are feather.
The house is surrounded by its own private garden, with pretty flower beds and a gravelled seating area, as well as a front & rear lawn with drying green. Gas, electricity, firewood and linen & towels are all included in the weekly rate.
Despite it's slightly eccentric style, the house is always immaculately presented, and we take in real pride in the fact that many of our visitors say that it is the best self catering house they have ever stayed in. In fact, some say it is nicer & better equipped than their own houses, and continue to return year on year!!
