Heron Cottage

Situated on a 65 acre working croft, Heron Cottage offers the perfect opportunity for guests who wish to relax in the peace of the countryside.

Yet it's just a short 20 minute drive from the island's capital (Portree) and well placed for visiting Dunvegan Castle, the coral beaches, Neist Point Lighthouse, Talisker Distillery and all of North Skye.

Built in 1991, the cottage is situated beside our own home and B&B business (The Anchorage), but due to the layout, the cottage is not overlooked.

Heron Cottage faces west and overlooks Loch Bracadale and the Ose river estuary towards the unique mountains known as MacLeod's Tables. Sunsets are often spectacular.

The estuary is the home territory of herons, ducks, oyster catchers and seals. It has recently become the summer home of a flock of geese. If you are lucky, you may see the local otters in the river mouth.

Unwind in this peaceful crofting setting. Awake to the sound of seabirds, watch seals playing in the loch or sunbathing on the rocks at low tide, or spot the heron fishing at sunset.

The cottage has 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom, plus a bathroom with full size bath and an over bath electric shower.

Lounge with TV, VCR, radio cassette player, selection of videos, books & games, sofa and armchairs, electric fire, plus dining table & chairs by the window.

Kitchen with full size electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, iron and all the necessary cooking equipment.

On arrival you will find a pint of fresh milk, bread or rolls, tea, coffee and sugar to get you started.

Rental prices range from £225 to £325 per week. Credit cards accepted.
