Via del Pellegrino was named, originally, by Florea and away Goldsmiths', the shops of goldsmiths who were there.
Took its present name from an inn called 'The Pilgrim', as the route, being the director for St. Peter's coming from Campo de 'Fiori, was constantly travelled by pilgrims. The Arc of Acetari, which acts as a bridge between two adjacent buildings and that has given rise to various interpretations about the place name. Some claim that the name Acetari derives from an ancient family that lived here, or by the University of Acetari which had its headquarters in the area: the thesis that we believe is more likely that the name of the arch (pictured left) is derived, by contraction, the term Acquacetosari, later also called Acetosari, or by retail water vinegar that here must have their deposits, given the closeness to the market in Campo de 'Fiori. Water, which flowed in the area of Tor di Quinto.
