The Hoose

The Hoose sleeps 6 with 2 double bedrooms, and one bathroom on the first floor and one twin bedded room with a downstairs bathroom on the ground floor. It has a sitting room with an open fire and dining table overlooking the harbour. It also has a fully fitted kitchen with a breakfast bar, range cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave oven and washing machine. The cottage also has a large partly walled fully enclosed garden. There is a barn attached to the house, which is useful for storing fishing or golfing equipment. There is a tumble dryer in the barn for guests to use.

In the village of Helmsdale there are 2 hotels one of which is The Bridge, which is great for posh nights out. There are also a couple of restaurants one being La Mirage that is reputedly one of the best fish and chip restaurants in the UK.

For shopping there are local shops including a butcher selling locally produced meat and game. For larger 'shops' there is Tesco in Wick to the north and Morrisons in Alness to the south.

For lobsters and crabs see the local fisherman who will gladly sell to you direct from their boats. There are plenty of large pans for cooking in the kitchen!

Helmsdale is famous for its salmon fishing river and in the village there is a tackle shop, which sells day permits to fish parts of the river. It is also a fantastic location for walkers with miles of coast line to explore as well as the hills. For golfers there is a nine-hole course in the village and various links courses including Royal Dornoch within a 30-mile area.
