Kintore Cottage
Kintore cottage is a traditional lock keepers cottage situated on the canal side of the Caledonian canal on the Great Glen Way and was built around 1830. The cottage looks onto the lock system at Fort Augustus which is part of the Caledonian canal that links Fort William to Inverness.
The cottage has been extensively renovated and extended to offer high quality self catering accommodation for up to four people. Within the cottage there is one double bedroom and one twin room- sitting room with cosy lounge furniture, TV, CD player, DVD player and a wood burning stove which when in use will heat the hot water and radiators, convectors and immerser and also available should the stove not be used- fully fitted dining kitchen with oven/hob, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and oak dining table- the shower room ha an electric shower installed.
All bed linen and towels are provided and a welcoming tray is left for you on your arrival.
The enclosed garden at the rear has a picnic table and barbecue and is suited for all the family. The cottage is located in the village and is close to shops, pubs, restaurants and local canal visitor centre.
Inverness is only 32 miles from the cottage and Ben Nevis the highest mountain in Britain is only 32mls to the south. Inverness airport is about and 1hrs drive from the cottage and Glasgow airport is about 3hrs drive.
Both summer and winter activities are available near-by including, fishing, cycling, climbing, walking, boating and skiing, for the golfers there is a beautiful 9 hole golf course where visitors are welcome. Loch ness is only a 5 min. walk from the cottage with boat trips available every day during the summer months where you can try and find the Loch Ness Monster or take a fast rib boat that takes you to Urquhart Castle in 20min.
