Self catering house, Open Fire, Genuinely Stunning Hill Top Views, Playroom.
The House:
This C.17th farmhouse, nestled on the South side of its steadings (barns) development, provides light and comfortable accommodation in four bedrooms. It is airy, spacious and relaxing, with an open fire and a rumpus playroom where children can be themselves. Three of the four bedrooms are 'main' double bedrooms with ample hanging space and the children's room has twin beds. Two of the double bedrooms share a family bath and shower room while the other two share a shower room and loo ensuite, which was installed in 2009.
The Area:
Golf, cycling and walks abound in the area but, at the end of your day, chill out in the sitting room and let your eyes relax as you lose yourself in the commanding Southerly views. This is classic 'Reiver' territory, famed for being lawless and at the mercy of footpads and thieves. The spot you are in could well have been a look-out spot, used to watch for advancing English soldiers. If the history interests you little then the views alone are some of the best you will see from the comfort of a chair in the Borders area. The playroom and two of the bedrooms share this same stunning aspect. If you just want to stay in, there is a playroom for the children, with a quarter-sized billiard table or, almost an acre of field to play in. The large, eat-in kitchen is well equipped, with an oven, roasting micro-wave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, dish-washer and the usual extensive range of cooking utensils. There are three large. The cot can easily be moved between the rooms.
Recent Review, Submitted: January 19, 2010 Date of Stay: December 2009:
We spent 4 days in the property over New Year and would suggest to any family or group of friends to take advantage of this brilliantly placed accommodation. Easy to get to from the A1 as we found from Newcastle, the property is set with stunning views across the countryside and 20 minutes walk from a most accommodating town of Earlston (most notably the pubs) . The rooms are very spacious and provide more than sufficient warmth and light to make the stay extremely relaxing. The kitchen has all amenities required and the games room allows children/the gents to be kept entertained. I would thoroughly recommend staying here for 3-4 days up to a week as the cost is extremely reasonable, with the allowance of pets as well. The owner was very helpful throughout on directions and setting the property up in a clean and efficient manner. This is a 'must' holiday cottage for those looking for a break in the beautiful countryside of Scotland whilst enjoying the locality of a very friendly town - would definitely recommend!!

Property Location:
Earlston is 33 miles South of Edinburgh and 72 miles North of Newcastle on the A68, running up between the A1 and the A7 and one of the four largest roads through the Scottish Borders.
At Earlston, about 50 metres North of the turning into Earlston High Street and ignoring Westfield Road turn into Huntshaw Road.
Go straight on up the hill, ignoring the road veering right which becomes Gun Place and ignoring the road veering left which becomes Leaderdale Crescent.
About half a mile straight on up that track, just before you reach Huntshaw House (painted yellow) on the left, Turn right
Huntshaw Mains is immediately on the left through the wooden gate set in the post and rail fence.
