Longbow Barns

The beautiful town of Dartmouth, lies at the mouth of the River Dart with wonderful views, coast and country walks and opportunities for water sports, close to beaches and the spectacular Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. Dartmouth is an ideal location for a self-catering holiday all year round.

Dating back to Saxon times Longbow Barns is situated in the town with commanding views over the roof tops to the countryside, Kingswear and out to the Dart estuary and sea, yet only a short distance down into the town and all its amenities.

One of the attractions of the barn is that the apartments can be rented out to accommodate up to four or six people, or the building can be opened up for groups of ten. During the main season Longbow barns is rented out for weekly holidays only. Out of season any stay duration can be arranged subject to availability.

Our new web site is now quite extensive. Listing restaurants, beaches and various places to visit to assist especially new visitors in planning their days out. For example a beach day could start at Blackpool Sands approximately 10-minute drive from the barn. With its own restaurant, shop and wonderful facilities this beach is ideal for children. Then just a short drive to Slapton Sands. A wonderful 3-mile stretch of pebble beach steeped in WW2 history and well known for the Start Bay Inn Fish & Chips.

Bigbury-On-Sea is further and a good idea to leave for a full day out.
The local coastal walks are many in number and vary from a casual stroll down through farm land and woods to the sea and Dartmouth Castle. Or a hike along the coastal path. One of these begins at the Start Lighthouse to Dartmouth. Spectacular views of the Skirries Bank and Start Bay.
