Holestone Moor Barns
All year round short breaks for up to fifteen people & 2 cots.
Vicki and Steve hope to welcome you to 'The Barn' (11 & baby) and 'The Stables' (4 & baby). These luxury self catering holiday cottages are conversions from 200 year old stone farm buildings, and are adjacent to our own house.
It's peaceful here at high lying Holestone Moor, away from main roads, yet only 4 miles from Matlock. Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted to find rare animals and birds such as water voles, badgers, skylarks, and hares.
Children love to play hide and seek in the wood which is just part of our 6 acres of grounds. And if it's raining ... well there's always the games room and under 5's playroom.
We pride ourselves on being able to offer everything you need to start your holiday off - all you need to bring are clothes & food (and yourselves of course).
Holestone Moor Barns cottages are for families, for house parties, for friends, for retreats. For romantic weekends. For peace and quiet. For fun and games. Holestone Moor Barns ... where our all-inclusive price means just that ... no extra costs!
The Barn - Sleeps 11 & baby (ETC 5 Stars) Dines 15
'The Barn' has a large living room and a separate large luxury fitted kitchen. The Dining room has a free-play slate bed pool table with removable dining top, around which 15 people can be seated. There is a kitchenette with electric water heater for hot drinks, and a separate downstairs toilet. There are 5 bedrooms in The Barn; most of the beds are single so that groups of friends can be accommodated as well as couples. We have a downstairs twin bedroom; its bathroom has a wheel-in shower. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms (one double, two twins, and a triple (full sized single beds). Z-bed available. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with shower (one is over a bath), toilet, wash basin & shaver socket. The ground floor is suitable for assisted wheelchair users.
The Stables - Sleeps 4& baby (ETC 5 Stars)
The Stables has an open plan living, dining & kitchen area, and is well equipped. There's a double (try out the unique 'cannon ball' bed) and a twin bedroom. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, toilet, wash basin and shaver socket.
The Barn & The Stables - Sleeps 15 & 3 cots (and Z-bed)
Many of our guests take both cottages together - they are just across the courtyard from one another, and The Barn has ample seating for guests from both cottages for dining & leisure. Great for reunions!
Facilities
Both properties have oak beams and many original features. Each has a colour TV, video, hi-fi, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, and toaster.
Kitchen and bathroom fittings are of very good quality, as are the decor and soft furnishings, all carefully co-ordinated by Vicki & Steve.
Each cottage has a log fire. The Barn kitchen has a 'range' style electric cooker, 2 fridges, separate freezer, and tumble drier.
The Stables has a fridge and a small worktop freezer, along with an electric hob and oven. A tumble drier for Stables guests can be found in 'The Store'.
All bathrooms have shower, toilet, wash basin & shaver socket.
Each bedroom has a wardrobe with hanging and shelf space.
We pride ourselves on being able to say our all inclusive price mean just that ... no extra costs! (All linen, towels, electricity, constant central heating & logs included!) A cot & highchair are available in each cottage.
Both cottages have Quality in Tourism Gold Awards, and we also have a Silver award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. In August 2009 we erected our own Wind Turbine, which should provide around three quarters of our total needs.
The cottages and Games Room are non-smoking, but we allow smoking in the grounds.
There are maps and books on Walking, Attractions & Things to do Outdoors available from the Office. And if its wet, there are novels & reference books in your cottage, videos & CD's in the Games Room, Scrabble & Monopoly on loan from the Office.
The Games Room has table tennis, darts (for safety, we ask guests to bring their own darts), table football and a free play slate bed pool table. A playroom for under 5's is also available.
Outside, both cottages look out onto the cobbled courtyard, which is shared with our own house. We encourage guests to explore our five acres of land, including woodland walks, the wildlife pond that is home to rare water voles, the wildflower meadow, and the paddock with barbecues & picnic tables.
We are adjacent to a dairy farm and entrance to the cottages is via a track through the farmyard.
As well as the sounds and smells that are associated with the farm, we are sometimes lucky enough to see a newly born calf. Because we are situated so close to the dairy farm, we regret that we CAN NOT accept pets in either property.
