If you are not familiar with this gem of a Suffolk seaside town, then you are in for a real treat. As you explore the wealth of ways in which to spend your time here, you will be storing up memories to treasure when your holiday is over.
Walk along the promenade , past the beach huts towards Southwold's Millenium pier, with Tim Hunkin's highly original amusements and water clock; Visit the harbour, the fishing boats and huts selling freshly caught fish; walk along the river bank, a birdwatchers paradise; Play golf, enjoy the common- and of course visit the town, with its individual shops and award winning restaurants. Sample Adnams beers.
Bringing your bikes, or hiring them, (safe storage in our garage) will enable you to extend your 'eco' daily distances. Walberswick is just across the river, Use the maps in Chestnutt cottage to plan your routes.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast offers birdwatching, cycling, rambling, beautiful, coastlines and heaths, world-class music, theatre and much, much more.
The traditional seaside holiday could be yours if you choose to rent our beach hut along with Chestnutt cottage. Breakfast at the hut on a sunny morning. The hut faces east and the sunlight glistens on the sparkling sea. It is here that we gain much of our inspiration for the art we make.
We at Chestnutt Studios are artist members of Suffolk Open Studios. We open our studios on weekends of June to the public, and invite you to come to see us at work. Exact dates and times of openings can be found in the Suffolk Open Studios Directory- available free from libraries, tourist offices, etc in late Spring.
